Windows 8 is finally being released -- Tried it out, and I have to admit that I am very excited to keep using Windows 7
Truth is, nothing beats typing on a full-size keyboard, with a fast PC, a 24" monitor, and an interface your brain and fingers know -- if I want to actually get things done quickly and accurately (i.e., be productive).
Sure, I could learn Windows 8 because the desktop is outdated and in 15 minutes everyone will be using tablets except me. But realistically, I'm not going to mess around with what Microsoft thinks are new paradigms and cool interfaces, and in the process become frustrated, way less productive, and be out X amount of cash for the new OS and limited apps.
I think the choice isn't whether to move from Win7 to Win8 and/or a Win8 tablet, it's whether to stay with Win7 for now or, if I'm going to spend time and money to be part of the so-called future, move to the Mac, Linux, or ChromeOS. (Or maybe I wait for Microsoft to fix Win8.)
